Something old, something new |
Description: |
A set of NYSW units, including a pair of new B 40s, has just pushed a northbound coal train up from Binghamton and is now getting set to roll back down the hill. NYSW used whatever was handy for pushers, and new high power road units were not exempt from this grueling service. |

D&H leading at the blades |
Description: |
An ex LV unit, now D&H, looks on at the remains of its old home as it passes between the semaphores at Tioga Center with a 53 car BUME. Standing orders were to run NYSW power head out when practicable. Sometimes it just wasn't. |

Down by the water plant |
Description: |
This was down a side road off NY17C. There was a water supply plant there, but the road was often gated. It was open this day, and I took the opportunity to get BUME rolling through the pair of signals there. |

Turning north |
Description: |
PYRP is about to hit track 5, the track that diverges from track 3 to go to Bevier St and north. Despite an effort to have NYSW power lead, and a trend toward more uniform power consists, sometimes the yards would turn out a dogs breakfast, such as this set of two Guilford painted units, lightning stripe, and a yellowjacket. But theres an Alco!! |

NY 7 with a local unit |
Description: |
NYSW 2012 leads this NY 7 into Binghamton. While NYSW was not above using small power on road trains, the long hood first orientation of 2012 makes me think the stack outlawed before it got to Binghamton, and 2012 was sent out to retrieve the train. You never knew what to expect from the Susie Q. The 2012 leads a trio of SD 45s as a set of CP power sits on the 2 runner on the ex DLW in the distance. |
