Reminiscent Of Dakota Rail's F Units |
Description: |
The Canadian Pacific f unit duo on the head end of CP's Ryder Cup train brought back boyhood memories of Dakota Rail's f units. (In fact, I had just come from photographing BNSF's Ryder Cup train, which was parked on the former DAKR interchange trackage.) |

Switching Amidst Industry |

The PGR crew has pulled ahead on a switching move south of 86th Street. I do not know if they were switching an industry, or sorting out stored cars. The industry in the background provides a swell backdrop for the two locomotives whose paint schemes are virtually identical to that used by the Minneapolis, Northfield, and Southern, which once operated this line. |

The Holiday Train At The Diamond |
Description: |
The Canadian Pacific Holiday train approaches the diamond on the MNS Spur with the Union Pacific's Golden Valley Industrial Lead on a snowy Saturday afternoon in early December. The train was running a bit late to its next engagement due to being thirty minutes late in New Hope, its first of three stops on the spur. Next stop: Golden Hills Drive in Golden Valley. Incidentally, the engineer was repeatedly blowing short blasts on the air horn to greet the small group gathered at the diamond to watch the train's passing. |

The MNS Spur Power? |
Description: |
These two GPs might be the current motive power on the MNS Spur local at the moment. Either that or they are assigned other duties. Anyway, I found them at Humboldt this day. |

Badly Tagged Caboose |
Description: |
I came upon this badly tagged Soo Line caboose at Humboldt Yard. Some punks just have no respect for private property. |

Still Parked |
Description: |
This cluster of units, including a veteran CP SD40-2, and ex-Milwaukee Road "bandit" GP40, and a Soo Line GP38-2, remain parked in the east end of Humboldt Yard since I saw them last. |

Three Drab, One Fresh |
Description: |
Another view of this five unit string of GEs I found at Humboldt Yard on a gray Friday afternoon. Four are drab, but the fifth, second from the right, the 9558, is resplendent. Must be out of the paint shop by only a few months. |

Tagged And Rusty |
Description: |
This ex-Burlington Northern boxcar, which I assume the Minnesota Commercial now owns, is so rusted and "tagged" by local punks that it is impossible to find a stencil on it. I saw a similar car without trucks a few years back, apparently used for storage at a business in Rosemount located just off the remains of the Chicago Great Western's main line. (That car's paint was in better shape, by the way.) |

Veteran BN Duo At Highway 280 |
Description: |
BNSF's veteran SD60 duo approaches Highway 280 as the crew takes them up to Northtown on a light power move. Note the sand train in the right background at Union Yard. I am not sure if that was the train's final destination, but it had stopped there for the moment after it passed Midway yard. |
