Former Virginia Railway Express coach
Title:  Former Virginia Railway Express coach
Description:  A former VRE coach is seen near the CIRR shops at Cedar Springs GA. This car sat at Shellman GA for years and has been recently moved to Cedar Lprings for reasons unknown. Several years ago, prior to GWI buying the Georgia Southwestern RR, GSWR operated several excursion trains between Smithville GA and Eufaula AL. This car was to be a part of those excursions but the program was killed when NS, who still owned the line, pointed out that the lease agreement did not allow passenger service on the lines that GSWR had leased from them. Therefore this car lanquished for years at Shellman. Thanks to Michael Woodruff for furnishing this historical information about this car: "That coach has a long history. Originally one of a group of B&M Budd RDCs, sent to Morrison-Knudsen in Boise to be rebuilt as demotored coaches. Served on MBTA. Then sold to VRE. Then sold to Vermont Railway, hence the "VTR" reporting mark."

It was dead in tow at this time and was actually on the rear of the local headeg to Cedar Springs and the CIRR shops. CIRR shops
Title:  CIRR shops
Description:  A bit of an odd scene at the CIRR shops shows a former RDC car most recently used by Virginia Railway Express and stored at Shellman GA on the GSWR for years spending some time at the CIRR shop for reasons unknown. Alongside are a pair of SW1500's still in faded AN and CIRR schemes.

Hilton and Albany switcher
Title:  Hilton and Albany switcher
Description:  The Hilton and Albany switcher has picked up Bayline 511 from the CIRR yard and it will be trailing going east toward Albany tonight. I am assuming it is headed to the GSWR at Arlington but I don't know if it is going there for switching duties or to the shop at Dawson. The last green/yellow Bayline unit that had shop work done at Dawson came back to the Hilton and onto the CIRR paint shop at Cedar Springs where it will soon emerge in the corporate GWI orange/black. Could the same fate be in the future for the 511?

Roster shot
Title:  Roster shot
Description:  Here is a roster shot of Bayline 511 still proudly wearing the classic green/yellow scheme. It is one of a very few still in the classic scheme and given the condition of the paint now it may not be long before it gets the corporate orange/black treatment.

Recent visitor
Title:  Recent visitor
Description:  I just told this recent visitor to Hilton that the classic Bayline, AN, and CIRR schemes were all being replaced by the corporate orange/black GWI scheme. This was his reaction.
