Album Info:Gondolas are to me, the true workhorse of the railroad, they haul and or move almost anything and everything. The railroad moves 'fish plates' and spikes, scrap, coil material, you name it, they move it. Beaten and battered, they expend their life in servitude to the customer(s) and needs of the owners. I just think they are fun, not the show car that a new reefer may be, but one of the few cars that perhaps adds to the bottom line, each month. They seem to last a long time as well, I do not see new gondolas on the rails often at all. Could just be my location? Either way they often have interesting loads and serve a need in the industry.
