Description:  Last year, the mid-Missouri area was literally covered with flood waters. The stream which this sign mentions is a good ways off to the left, but the mud remaining on this sign indicates just how much high the water had risen last summer. Date of photo: August 15, 2019.

Title:  Automobile stop sign near UP tracks in Jefferson City, MO
Description:  The UP tracks, and a small stream--creek, actually--are out of sight to the right but last summer, after nearly record-setting rainfall for mid-Missouri, you can see how far the water rose. The various "shades" of mud on the sign show how the water eventually receded during a very warm summer last year. This sign was easily six feet above the ground so that gives you an idea how much water had come to town!

Title:  Automobile stop sign near UP tracks in Jefferson City, MO
Description:  This is another view of a stop sign located on a dirt road close to the UP tracks at Jefferson City, MO. The road goes under a bridge, more or less behind me at this location. The truck in the background gives an idea of how far away the sign in from the paved road crossing the tracks. The various shades of mud on the sign reflect how the floodwaters gradually receded during a very warm summer last year here in mid-Missouri. Modelers could put one of these signs near one of their roads, especially if their modeled vehicular roads are near a stream or river!
