This was on my first visit to this bridge, with a friend from Matton IL. As we peered across to the other side, we saw what we thought were people at the other end. When we looked thru the binculars, we found that the vultures in the area were using the bridge as a start and stop area.....so that gives you some idea of the height of it. Work is being done on this bridge at present, noted by the gridwork under the first full span in the photo. No trains at this particular time, as they are working further up the line at West Alton, and beyond....... |

Not the best of photos (camera phone), and thru the car windshield. Due to tornadoes thru STL area Friday evening, this crane on barge broke loose from the I-70 bridge area (major span redo)and came to rest against the rr bridge. Trains are waiting on both sides (no crews at present), and no info on what anyone is/will be doing! Lots of trucks parked on the 370 bridge and a couple of hi rail trucks have made there way back and forth. |
