Album Info:Over 70 new photos, mostly from my favorite place to railfan; the Vancouver Washington depot. The depot is literally surrounded in the middle of a wye, double-tracked on each leg, that connects BNSF's very busy Seattle and Fallbridge Subdivisions. Along with BNSF traffic, there are 8 daily Amtrak trains, and UP and PNWR have trackage rights on this portion of the Seattle line. This album will also include a few shots from my ride home on Amtrak #507 on the 5th which include the nearly impossible to photograph former Oregon Electric Drawbridge near Harrisburg, OR. Thank you very much for viewing and I hope you enjoy.

AMTK 93
Title:  AMTK 93
Description:  This would be my first time taking the 507 to see the line in daylight (id usually wait for its later counterpart, 509, in order to catch more traffic at the depot) but as it would be light the whole trip on 507 in June, I tried it out. Wasn't dissapointed, it's very beautiful in the evening. The acela painted ex-275 is the NPCU, the only one on the Cascades painted in Phase V and with a bagage door welded in the side.

My Sad Sight on 507
Title:  My Sad Sight on 507
Description:  UP 1445 had been serving as switching power in Springfield/Eugene in late 2010/early 2011, but with one major difference; it was wearing an amazingly well-kept up coat of DRGW paint. Someone had even taken the time to remove the nose patch. I wrongfully assumed it was still showing off it's Grande glory somewhere else along the system but that ended as I passed it in Salem on 507. It's too bad, there was really no reason for a new paint job, even though the paint was decades old, it was very hard to believe it had been out of the running around in black and gold for more then a year or two. At least it will probably be in service for many more years.

Oregon Electric Drawbridge
Title:  Oregon Electric Drawbridge
Description:  If youve ever chased a train on HWY 99 (definitely recomend it as long as it's not Amtrak... you'll never catch it), theres a good chance you'll see a pair of large former drawbridges and wonder how to get there. (the ex-OE seen here was verticle lift, and the ex-SP this was taken from is was a swing bridge. Simple answer: you can't, not at least without a long hike and tresspassing making the only logical and legal way taking one from Amtrak. Built by OE, now owned by BNSF and leased to PNWR. The OE line directly parrallels the UP (ex-SP) main from Harrisburg to Eugene.

Sunset Over The Willamette and Oregon Electric Drawbridge
Title:  Sunset Over The Willamette and Oregon Electric Drawbridge
Description:  Originally built by the Oregon Electric Railway in 1910 (making it 103 years old at the time of this picture), an interurban street-car railway in the early 20th century spanning a mainline from Portland to Eugene with many secondary lines. The line as a passenger run closed in May of 1933 due to competition from other modes of transportation but most of the mainline survived as a freight railroad. It was later purchased by BN and is still owned by BNSF but leased to PNWR. This picture was taken from Amtrak Cascades #507 from the fromer SP swing bridge at the same location, both are no longer operational, and both are impossible to get to except by train making them incredibly hard to photograph. The two lines parallel eachother directly from Eugene to Harrisburg.

Taking The Scenic Route
Title:  Taking The Scenic Route
Description:  As described by the conductor of 507, because of this "disabled freight train." The "scenic route" turned out to be the Irving Lead and these turned out to be the DPUs of the QPDRV.

The "Disabled Freight Train"
Title:  The "Disabled Freight Train"
Description:  as the conductor of 507 had addressed it. It turned out to be the QPDRV (seemed very late for it) which the dispatcher had likely held on the main, which put us (Amtrak 507) in through the "scenic route" via Irving Siding."
