The trailing unit is one of the 1000 SD70MACs BN acquired in the 90s for coal service. Many of them have now been displaced in that work by newer power, and have found their way into the general freight pool. This last unit is still(mostly) in its original paint, but the second unit, another Grinstein, is now in "Swoosh" paint. Hopefully this is a bodes well for its future!! |

Days of Future Past |
Description: |
With apologies to the Moody Blues....the new order, in the form of a BNSF GE pulling a stack train, passes a relic of the past in the shape of an old Frisco caboose as the westbound stack rolls west with 123 platforms. |

Pseudo station |
Description: |
The folks in Pierce City, in homage to their Frisco past, built this city building to look like a train station. It makes a nice prop, even if its not part of the railroad. |

Racing |
Description: |
Actually, not hardly. The engineer had reported a problem to the dispatcher, and he was slowing for an approach signal, stopping at the other end of the siding to check something. Hed move again about 20 minutes later. |

The bells of St Marys |
Description: |
Our westbound stacker waits in the company of St Marys Catholic Church. Its prayers will be answered shortly as an eastbound comes by, allowing it to once again proceed west. |

Gaining on him |
Description: |
I was driving north on Wis 35 trying to catch this westbound sand train that had passed me in Prairie du Chien, and had about caught him. I dont get to this part of Wisconsin but every couple of years, so of course the weather is dismal. We see a pair of GEs across one of the many side channels of the Mississippi, one still in warbonnet in a view from the side window of my Winnebago. Interestingly, the BNSF 777 is not the first unit of that number I have seen here. I shot SOO 777 across the river leading west in June 1987. |

Caught him |
Description: |
I was trying to get a shot across the water, but this was the best I could go, given that I was coming to a speed restriction on the road, so took this. Nice place to watch and photograph trains, but I need to come here when the weather is better, and I can spend some time. |
