Cinder loading???
Title:  Cinder loading???
Description:  Whats up with this?? I caught this on a passing train in Hilton GA. A hold over from the steam days?? Perhaps used to move cinders?? Or was this car used for some other specialized duty at one time. When I saw it, it was loaded with wood chips as it is a chip hopper. I thought it might be someone playing a joke, and still could be, but it does look rather "official" placed where it is. Any ideas???

Chattahoochee Bay using Bayline power
Title:  Chattahoochee Bay using Bayline power

NS delivered a coal train to the Chattahoochee Bay the night before and the Chattahoochee Bay used locomotives of The Bayline ,a fellow GWI road, to move the coal from Hilton to Dothan and then to Panama City. Seen here as power are 2 former GTW GP40's bracketing a slug formerly used on another GWI road, the Chattahoochee Industrial RR. A pair of SD40-2's enroute to Bayline
Title:  A pair of SD40-2's enroute to Bayline
Description:  SD40-2's return to the Bayline. Many years ago the Bayline had an SD40 on the roster. It left during one of the numerous ownership shanges for the Bayline. Since then the Bayline has been basically all GP38 with a few exceptions. GWI, the Bayline's owner, recently bought the nearby Georgia Southwestern. The 2 SD40-2's seen here are from the GSWR. The Bayline sent a pair of GP38's to the GSWR in exchange for the SD's seen here. The SD's are seen here on the Chattahoochee Industrial Railroad, another GWI road. The SD's moved via Bainbridge GA to Saffold over CSX, then over the CIRR to Hilton where they will travel to Dothan AL and the Bayline via the Chattahoochee Bay, still another GWI road.

Old slug
Title:  Old slug
Description:  An old slug rests at the CIRR shops in Cedar Springs GA. It was bought about 15 years ago and has never seen service on the CIRR. The CIRR operated a pair of slugs at one time but ended the program not long after it started.

Bayline power
Title:  Bayline power
Description:  A pair of Bayline GP38's can be seen in Cuthbert GA now on the GSWR. A power swap between the 2 roads sent a pair of SD40-2's to the Bayline while the GSWR got a pair of GP38's from the Bayline. We are looking toward Eufaula on former CofG trackage. The Bayline units sit on the old NS/CSX interchange track while the SD's I am standing beside rest on old NS yard trackage.
