Album Info:I lived in Endicott NY from 1988 through 2006, an interesting time to be a rail photographer on the former Erie Lackawanna. This album shows Conrail trains on the former EL Susquehanna Division from Endicott to Gang Mills, as well as some connected lines, such as the ex LV Ithaca Branch and Lehigh Line in nearby PA, and the ex NYC line from Corning to Wellsboro PA

Description:  OIBU rolls between the signals at Waverly with 73 cars. Note the mast with the blue circle next to the semaphore indicating the far track is not governed by that signal. There used to be a a hot box detector light below the semaphore-see the conduit hanging down.

Description:  Possibly the most well known location on the Tier was Tioga Center, up til 1992 the location of a pair of semaphores that were across the tracks from each other. Conrail replaced them as seen here. Somehow, tri lights didnt quite have the same charm. OIBU has 73 cars today and a mix of power.

Title:  CGAL on the Tier
Description:  CGAL, the Corning-Allentown train that ran the ex LV to Allentown, accessed the Lehigh Line via a connection from the ex EL at Waverly. It has just gotten its clearance onto the Lehigh and is starting past the semaphore, and will shortly take the switch at block station WAVE to head for Sayre and then on to Allentown.

Along the rocks
Title:  Along the rocks
Description:  One of the more interesting, but hard to get, shots was this on along the rock ledge west of Waverly. TV 202 is making its way east under O'Brien's Inn, a landmark along the cliff for many years. The hard part about this shot was that you had to park on the shoulder of NY 17 east, an expressway, and climb up a steep embankment, risking getting run off(or tickeyed) by the state troopers. The location is just as you approach the exit 60 off ramp.

Description:  Conrail had a fleet of lease units under a subsidiary called Locomotive Leasing Services that primarily was shared with CN on a seasonal basis. By 1995 these units were coming home, and found their way onto many CR trains. Here one of them teams with a pair of SD40-2s to roll 20 COFC and 52 auto racks east on my 36th birthday.

Description:  One of my favorite locations-easy to get to from my house, and great for westbounds in the afternoon-was the area around Miller Beach Rd just east of Owego. Here we see OIBU behind a C40-8.
