Album Info:I’ve worked on track crews on 3 RRs over the past 5 or 6 years. I’ve leveled track on tangents but never on a curve. Here’s the Walkersville Southern solution to the problem using 120,000 lbs of stone over 2 days work at MP 7.6 aka Curve #10. /DL

Description:  The tamper has passed over the 1st section of track to be raised. If the measurements look okay the tamper will be backed away from the work area and the jacks will be moved to the next section of the curve. /DL

Tamping

Description:  Two or three dips and the tie is firm against the rail. After the entire curve is done a slow order will be placed on this segement of track & after a few trains have passed the track will be checked for level again. Generally with new stone & tamping the track is quite stable and shows very little movement... /DL
