Album Info:The far south of Japan is overseen by JR's Kyushu 'Division' which prides itself on thier distictly different and varied liverys and rolling stock. Railfans from other parts of Japan often come here to take advantage of the scenery and local 'flavor' of the equiptment to be found. This album is my small part...

Amagi Railway Gem!
Title:  Amagi Railway Gem!
Description:  At JR Kyushu Kiyama station, this Pretty 'Lil DMU is of private operator Amagi Railway, No. 305. Judging by its 'Not-a-speck' apperence, the folks at Amagi must run a top notch operation! {Good Job!} The Amagi line is about 8.5 miles and serves the city of same name. They use a small fleet of DMU's such as this one, all built by Fuji Heavy industries.

Yufuin no Mori
Title:  Yufuin no Mori
Description:  The Yufuin no Mori {Forest of Yufuin} DMU trainset is unique to JR Kyushu. According to Wikipedia there is only 1 set in service. This 4 car train was put in service in 1989 from reconditioned class KiHa 58 and 65 cars with new bodies. In 2003 this trainset was again refurbished and remains in service today. Seen here at Hakata is the trailing cab car, #4, class KiHa 71-2. This classy and unusual train was more a 'lucky catch' than i originally expected, I'd say!
