Album Info:Mason City is home to very unique railroad operation....the Iowa Traction electric line. Service began in 1897 as the Mason City & Clear Lake Traction Company. In 1961, the assets of the MC&CL were transferred to the newly formed Iowa Terminal Railroad, owned by Harold Boyer. In 1987 and close to total abandonment, the IAT was sold to a local group headed by David Johnson and operated as the Iowa Traction. Since then, the IATR has thrived with new business and improvement to the railroad.
