Album Info:CSX Albany Division Mohawk Subdivision QC 177.6 - Amsterdam Station (Amtrak) Amsterdam, New York, USA 23 July 2016 - 14:44 EDT Amtrak P048 - #48/448 "Lake Shore Limited" (Chicago, IL to New York, NY - Penn Station and Boston, MA) One of my favorite Amtrak Long Distance Trains, as I ride frequently going down to Texas. Sadly, full dining car service has been eliminated from this train just this past week. "Diner Lite" service has been substituted (pre-fabbed meals reheated in convection oven as opposed to freshly prepared meals; but not quite as bad as microwavable Cafe Car food either (which really isn't that bad, IMO). Information has it, there is a shortage of Dining Cars in the Amtrak fleet, in conjunction with the manufacturer of the proposed dining car replacement fleet ran into delays pumping out the recent new fleet of baggage cars and in retooling the erecting floor for dining cars, compounded by decades of skimpy Federal funding (despite Amtrak setting ridership records the past few years!) Losing out on the classic railroad French Toast in the flatlands of Ohio and Indiana (westbound) or between Buffalo & Syracuse (eastbound) is gonna be a tough give up.
