Album Info:Fan trip from Montreal to Aston Junction, Québec, organized by the St-Lawrence Valley Railway Society on May 26th, 1973. The Canadian National locomotive is number 1262, a SW1200 switcher and was at that time one of the few locomotives still in old CNR color. Note that all the train consists is also in old color. The fan trip was done on a secondary CNR line passing through Montreal south shore towns like Longueuil, Boucherville, Varennes, Verchères, Sorel, Pierreville, Nicolet, Des Ormeaux, Saint-Grégoire, etc, up to Aston Junction village that was connecting this secondary line to the main line between Montreal and Quebec city. A few years after this fan trip, the wood trestle in Pierreville town burned, and the tracks between Sorel and Saint-Grégoire were abandoned and removed. Tracks between Saint-Grégoire and Aston Junction are still in service, and also served the Bécancour area near the Saint-Lawrence River.
