Album Info:Here are the front cover and a ten-page cover article by Mr. John R. Crosby entitled "Second Engine 28: Three Fingers Down On The Rump Meant 3 Minutes Late." They were published originally in the March 1975 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 42-51. "The Movement Director began to work on his part in getting the Pennsylvania Railroad's 'Broadway Limited' out of Chicago and headed for New York. He called the 55th Street crew dispatcher and ordered two engine crews for #28. Referring to his crew sheet, the crew dispatcher noted that the engineer on the first engine would be Pat McCormick, on the second engine Harry Adams." (Page 43) This is an account of their run from Chicago to Fort Wayne.

At the left is PRR engine #8797, an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Lima Locomotive Works as Vandalia number "155" in August of 1916, renumbered PRR "8797" in 1917, and renumbered "9987" in 1951.

Description:  Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken at the Passenger Station in Englewood, Illinois. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5337 and another locomotive whose number is not recorded. Both are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics." #5337 was built in Juniata during March of 1918 and retired in January of 1949 after 31 years of faithful service. Perhaps the "Second Engine" here is #5352? The photographer's name and the exactdate are not recorded.
