End of track looking west
Title:  End of track looking west
Description:  Turning around from the other shot, this is looking west towards downtown N. St. Paul with Hwy 36 to the right. These track once hosted Soo Line passenger trains 1,2, 5 and 6 to Chicago until the last one left on 1/15/1965. There were a couple shippers left in NSP until the end in summer 1982, when the rest of this 5 or 6 miles of track to Trout Brook Jct was removed.

Title:  End of the Skally(NP Duluth line)
Description:  This was the first place the line was severed au Frost Avenue in North St. Paul, MN over the winter of 86-87 when they rebuilt the road. The Soo Line Chicago to St. Paul line used to cross up near the Gloster sign. It was sad to see this neat ABS mainline removed when it had just hosted 6-8 trains a day 2 years earlier.

Description:  In the late winter of 1986-87, Soo Line conducted some management training operations from Withrow to Somerset, WI in anticipation of a strike and used this empty ballast train and a couple GP38-2s and ran several trips over the high bridge. The line had been out of service for the good part of a year, so this was the first train to cross and the line then went dormant again until WC took over later in 1987.

Description:  Heading back east to Stillwater, the Zephyr goes through a nice S curve that was relayed with ribbon rail by BN in 1980. The train carried over 1,000,000 people in its 21 year run at Stilwater.
