Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1656 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during January of 1917 and retired in November of 1956 after 39 years of faithful service. |

Also included are an unidentified German reporter's reflections about riding the "California Zephyr." |
