This Alco-Brooks 2-8-2 Mikado built for the Nickel Plate Road (New York, Chicago & St Louis) in August of 1917 now sits as scrap in the New Haven, IN, yard, complete with its name crossed out. Eventually it would be sold as scrap to M.S. Kaplan Co on January 31, 1962. Specs - builder #57506, class H-5b, 63" driveres, 200 psi boiler pressure, 24x32" cylinders, engine weight of 291,750 lb, tractive effort of 49,737 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
