Jammed
Title:  Jammed
Description:  The Wagoner stop posed some space issues, since the train was pulled up south of 5th St, a block from the diamond with the ex MKT, which we see in the foreground. It didnt leave a lot of room to park, and the streets are narrow as it is. We grabbed a shot and took off, wanting to beat him to Inola, a fairly straight shot for the train, but almost 30 miles by road.

Big crowd
Title:  Big crowd
Description:  As with everywhere the train stopped on this trip, the crowd at Nowata was big, as just about the whole town turned out. I got this shot holding the camera over my head to get a slightly better angle. We quit the chase here, heading back to Tulsa for a good dinner at Saltgrass Steakhouse.

Overhead view
Title:  Overhead view
Description:  I had taken the Winnebago as a chase vehicle, given that the Covid pandemic has taken on new life in the past six weeks, and this would give me a fridge and a bathroom that I didnt have to share with the rest of the world. It also made for a good place to shoot photos from. I used the ladder on the back of the RV to get this shot from the roof, getting a commanding view of the 4014 and the entire train.

On the way
Title:  On the way
Description:  After the street shot downtown, I went up to the Arkansas River bridge and set up. Its a good shot, with the railing on the old highway bridge here enforcing a strict photo line. It was one of only a few unobstructed views all day.

Helping out
Title:  Helping out
Description:  UP typically sends a diesel as back up-you need to have some insurance against tying up the railroad when operating 80 year old equipment-in this case, a freshly painted GE. The last time the 4014 was here, the assist was provided by SD 70MAC 4015. This unit would stay with the 4014 all the way to Cheyenne.

Another shot along the highway
Title:  Another shot along the highway
Description:  There was a freight stopped ahead of the 4014, so progress was slow, but it did allow for some relaxed chasing, and I was able to pick spots along the way, such as this spot along SR 88.

Title:  Over the Frisco

Through the trees
Title:  Through the trees
Description:  One of the less appealing things about the ex MP route was the lack of overpasses, and that there were a number of places that were hemmed in by trees, a situation I would largely not have to deal with on a subsequent chase a week or so later in Kansas. Approaching a crossing north of Nowata.

Title:  By the signals
Description:  The 4014 passes the automatics at Lenapah in my last shot of the day. As the train passed, the motorcade of chasers caught up, and I decided I didnt want to get bogged down in the mess. This was a fitting end to the day.
