Rolling through the hills of Pennsylvania near Pitcairn is this Conrail business train. The end car is CR #10 which has a lengthy history. Going backward, this car was ex-PC 30, exx-NYC, exxx-Victoria Park, exxxx-Kalamazoo Park, exxxxx-PULL Hudson River, nee-Queen Elizabeth. This is a modified HW "daytime" business car rebuilt from a parlor observation. Conrail conductor Ken Taylor was at the right spot to capture this foggy photo. |

This is more a Conrail mainenance of way car than business car as it serves as the "Technical Services Laboratory" (note title at left end). The backward history of this car is as follows - ex-NYC 648, exx-10648 Chicopee Falls, nee-10597. The PS LW Research and Test car was rebuilt from a 6 DBR/lounge floorplan. Conrail conductor Ken Taylor took this nice color slide of the car as it sits in the Pitcairn yard. |
