Caught on a cold wintry morning by an unknotn photographer, Canadian National 4-8-2 Mountain type #6024 stands in the Toronto yard with its one baggage car and two passenger cars - a small consist for such a powerful locomotive!. The loco was built by the Canadian Locomotive Company in July of 1924 (serial #1752) and served for nearly 36 years before meeting up with the scrapper's torch in February of 1960., just one year after this photo was taken. Specs - 73" drivers, 210 spi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 355,570 lb, tractive effort of 49,589 lb. |
