SBCTA FLIRT-H2 501 001
Title:  SBCTA FLIRT-H2 501 001
Description:  Because Southern California transit authorities are already using Stadler FLIRT diesel multiple units (DMU) on the Redlands passenger rail corridor for their Arrow service and the DMUs need to upgrade to zero-emissions technology, SBCTA decided to stick with Stadler's best-selling FLIRT for passenger service: In November 2019, SBCTA partnered with Stadler to design and build the first hydrogen-powered FLIRT. The train with 108 seats was created within three years. The maximum speed is 130 kph / 80 mph. SBTCA has currently ordered one FLIRT H2 hydrogen train to join its fleet of FLIRT diesel multiple units (DMUs). In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed at InnoTrans, where Caltrans and CalSTA are asking for 4 four-car hydrogen FLIRTs, with an option for 25 more.
