This rugged, massive locomotive looks more like a 2-8-2 Mikado missing its front and trailing trucks than a yard switcher. Built by the Lima Company in April of 1929, it served for nearly 32 years before it was retired in October of 1951 a the Sedalia, MO, yard. Built by Alco-Brooks in October of 1909, MP 2-8-0 Consolidation #118 served the MP line for nearly 42 years before being retired on 9/4/1951. One interesting side note - it was given a baldwin boiler from MP #161 sometime in its life. No exact date was given for the photo so an approximate one was used. This 2-8-2 Mikado steam locomotive was originally built to be used the St Louis, Brownsville & Mexico Railway under the guardianship of MP but eventually the loco ended up on the official MP roster The loco was rebuilt sometime along the way. No record of its final disposition could be found. No date was given for the photo so an approximate one was used. It served for nearly 28 years before being scrapped ion 9/21/1954 at the North Little Rock, AR, yard. No date was give for the photo so an approxiamte one was used.
