Built by ALCO-Brooks in October of 1907, it originally carried the CM&StP #1904. In 1912, it was renumbered CMStP #5004 and again as CMStPP (MILW) #5004. Finally in 1938, it was renumbered one more time to MILW #901. After nearly 46 years of service the loco was retired and scrapped in February of 1953.
