Album Info:These are a fairly good group of Western Maryland 2-8-0 Consolidation steam locomotive photos.Nearly all of these did not have the date, location or photographer listed so approximates were used.

Title:  WM 2-8-0 #703 - Western Maryland
Description:  This 2-8-0 Consolidation type steam locomotive was built by Baldwin in August of 1910. In September of 1928, its pilot was replaced by foot boards as seen in this photo. There is some discrepancy in when it was scrapped. The Baldwin records show scrapping in December of 1936 but this photo by Max Miller is dated 9/7/1943. Specs - serial #35155, class H-7, 60" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 24x30" cylinders, engine weight of 222,000 lb, tractive effort of 48,960 lb.

WM 2-8-0 #722 - Western Maryland
Title:  WM 2-8-0 #722 - Western Maryland
Description:  This good looking 2-8-0 Consolidation type steam locomoitve was built by Alco-Richmond in October ofr 1911. During its service, it had a pwer reverse appled in September of 1933. By June of 1951 after 40 years of service, the loco was sold for scrap to Southwest Steel. . Specs - class H-7a, 60" drivers, superheated, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x30" cylinders, engine weight of 241,000 lb, tractive effort of 53,125 lb.No date, location or photographer listed for the photo.

WM 2-8-0 #351 Western Maryland
Title:  WM 2-8-0 #351 Western Maryland
Description:  This 2-8-0 Consolidation was built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin) in August of 1895 as West Virginia Central & Pittsburgh, as class 30. The loco then passed into WM hands when the WVC&P was purchased by WM in 1905.It was reclassified as H-3f and renumbered WM 351. In September of 1947, the loco was sold to the 72-mile-long Huntingdon & Broad Top Mountain. Finally after a combined 59 years of service, th loco was scrapped in 1954. Original specs - 50" drivers, 175 psi boiler pressure, 21x26" cylinders, engine weight of 140,000 lb, tractive effort of 34,111 lb. No date, location or photographer listed for the photo.

Description:  Built by Baldwin in April of 1901, Western Maryland 2-8-0 Consolidation type #406 served well for nearly 40 years before being scrapped in February of 1941 at the Hagerstown Yard. Specs - 56" drivers, 180 psi boiler pressure, 22x28" cylinders, engine weight of 159,000 lb, tractive effort of 37,026 lb. No date, location or photographer listed for the photo.

Title:  WM 2-8-0 #451 Western Maryland
Description:  A proud crew poses for a photo with their 2-8-0 Consolidation type locomotive. Originally built by Baldwin as West Virgina Central Pittsbrugh 2-8-0 #38, it fell into the WM roster when the WVC was purchased in 1905. The was sold for scrap to Luria Bros. in May of 1950 after nearly 50 years of service. Specs - 50" drivers, 190 psi boiler pressure, 22x28" cylinders, engine weight of 173,900 lb, tractive effort of 43,773 lb. Eventually scrapped in May of 1950. After a service record of nearly 33 years, the loco was retired in April of 1954 and sold for scrap to Luria Bros. in November of 1954. Specs -class H-9a, 61" dirvers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine weight of 309,910 lb, tractive effort of 68,263 lb. No date, location or photographer listed for the photo.
