MKT 2-6-0 #87 - Missouri-KAnsas-Texas |
| Description: |
Built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in September of 1906 (sn 28936), it was a solid member of the MKT roster. In December of 1923, MKT #587 had its boiler replaced by Schenectady from MKT #502. In October of 1926, the loco was superheated. After nearly 47 years of service, the loco was scrapped in June of 1953. Original specs - class D8/J5E, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x28" cylinders, engine wt of 160,000 lb, and tractive effort of 30,200 lb. MKT 2-8-2 #702 - Missouri-Kansas-Texas |
| Description: |
Nice example of a 2-8-2 Mikado built by Alco-Schenectady in April of 1913 (sn 52905). , In March of 1923, the boiler was replaced by Schenectady from MKT #756. After nearly 38 years of service, the loco was scrapped in August of 1951. Original specs - class L-1-a, 61" drivers, 195 psi boiler pressure, 26.5x30" cylinders, engine wt of 287,500 lb and tractive effort of 57,250 lb. Built by Alco-Schenectady in September of 1918 (sn 59928), the loso served in both passenger and freight service during its lifetimes. Late in is service , it was assigned to the Southern District in March of 1949. Four months later it was scrapped in June of 1949. Original specs - class L-2-b, 61" drivers, 195 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine wt of 315,000 lb, tractive effort of 63,900 lb.
