SOO GP7 #559 - Soo Line (MNTX)
Title:  SOO GP7 #559 - Soo Line (MNTX)
Description:  While waiting for the Oscela St Croix Velley Rwy fall ride, we spotted this interesting locomotive parked on the siding. Built by EMD in Octobe of 1951 as Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific GP7 #1223, it bounced from one roster to another making it a tru boomer locomoitve but never landing on the Soo Line roster. From CRIP 1223 > CNW 4505 >FVR 4189 > WC 4159 > MNTX #559 at the Minnesota Transportation Musceum. The Museum then chose to paint it as a Soo Line locomotive - one that it had never been before. Interesting choice.

SOO GP7 #559 - Soo Line
Title:  SOO GP7 #559 - Soo Line
Description:  Having bounced from one roster to another, this GP7 finally landed on the Minnesota Transportation museum roster as MNTX GP7 #559. The Museum chose to paint it as a Soo Line loco - one that this loco was never on the roster. It serves as one of the power units for the Osceola & St Croix Valley Rwy tourist line in Wisconsin. That was the fall ride that brought us to Osceola. WI.

SOO GP7 5#59 - Soo Line
Title:  SOO GP7 5#59 - Soo Line
Description:  Close up view of the engineer window of this high nose GP7 painted in Soo Line colors by its owner, the Minnesota Transportation Museium who runs the Osceola & St Croix Valley Rwy with the reporting mark as MNTX. The toursit train run by the Museum uses the former Soo Line trackage at Osceola, WI, now owned by Canadian National. We enjoyed the trip through the fall colors down to the St Croix River and into the William O'Brien State Park in Minnesota. The vintage cars used by the tourist line are a diverse group from commuter cars to elegant diners to an RPO combo car.

SOO GP7 #559 - Soo Line (MNTX)
Title:  SOO GP7 #559 - Soo Line (MNTX)
Description:  Close up of the high nose on the SOO GP7 loco although technically its reporting mark is actually MNTX for the owner, the Minnesota Transportation Museum. They provide the power and passenger cars for the Osceola & St Croix Valley Rwy toruist line in Wisconsin. We found the fall color trip a beautiful experience.

SOO GP7 #559 - Soo Line (MNTX)
Title:  SOO GP7 #559 - Soo Line (MNTX)
Description:  Although wearing the Soo Line colors and marked SOO #559, it actually belongs to the Minnesota Transportation Museum in St Paul MN, who runs the Osceola & St Croix Valley Rwy. The fall color tour on the Osceola & St Croix Valley Rwy was the reason that brought us to the Osceola Wisconsin depot where this loco was parked as spare power.
