Description:  A CN train passes the FV&LS (or FOXY), former CN, originally C&NW, depot after setting out cars at the yard at Appleton Junction, WI, on 29 Dec. '24. Train was headed for Kaukauna. There used to be a diamond right about where the locomotive is, from ca. 1874 until at least 1968, where the MLS&W crossed the C&NW. When the MLS&W was absorbed by the C&NW on 1 Sep. 1893, their line became the Ashland Div. of the C&NW. The white building partially visible in the background is the former home of the Harry H. Long Moving and Storage Co., 1001 S. Douglas St. This building dates to at least 1953, when it was listed in the local directory (it was not listed in ’51). The building has a spur, but it hasn’t been used for quite a while (except for occasional MoW equipment). They moved to a larger facility in Town of Clayton, Winnebago Co., WI in 2001.

They have just finished switching Orbis and will head back to Neenah. This portion of Racine Rd. forms the border between Menasha (to the right) and Fox Crossing (to the left).

The depot was built by M&N in 1882 and is home to the Milwaukee & Northern Railway Historical Society, a.k.a. the Neenah-Menasha Model Railroad Club, 323 W. Forest Ave.

Title:  CN 3898 and BCOL 4609
Description:  A CN train approaches Kampo Rd. (technically no longer Kampo Rd.) as it heads southwest via former SOO rails at Neenah, WI, on 4 Jan. '25. A remnant of the former C&NW main line, now relegated to a passing siding, runs parallel to the right. Neenah Foundry Plant 2 & Plant 3 dominate the background. Plant 2 opened in 1960 and Plant 3 was built in 1967. Plant 1 opened in 1918 and stood about a mile to the north, until it was closed in 1994 and eventually demolished.

Description:  A CN train approaches Towmen Rd. as it transitions from the former SOO rails to the former C&NW rails as it heads northeast at Shawano Junction, Fox Crossing, Winnebago Co., WI (formerly Town of Menasha, Winnebago Co., WI, from 1855 until 14 Apr. 2016) on 25 Jan. '25. This spot used to be named Fox River Junction, after several segments of the original C&NW main line through Menasha and Neenah were removed and a turnout was installed here which allows the bypass of missing C&NW rails by using former SOO rails.
