Album Info:Sunny skies and moderate temperatures were an irresistable lure to trackside on Sunday, February 8, 2009. On the way to Rochelle, IL from Milwaukee, I stopped at Davis Jct., IL in the hopes of catching something. Two GP40s, including DME 4002 in 20th anniversary scheme, were resting on the northwest wye. Signals protecting the diamond announced the imminent arrival of an eastbound. Soon DME 6055, ICE 6212, and ICE 6102 arrived with a long train. This was the Savanna-Davis Jct. local. The train pulled past the east end of the siding and was cut far back. Much of the train was backed into the siding from its east end. I moved on after this, heading to Rochelle in the hopes of catching UP 1983, the Western Pacific heritage unit. Clouds and the placement of UP 1983 at Global 3 thwarted those hopes. On the way back, I stopped again at Davis Jct. The same engines had been shuffled so that ICE 6212 was the leader of a pack facing westbound, with DME 6055 second and ICE 6102 third. The power hooked onto a long cut placed on the west end of the siding. I caught the westbound departure from the Illinois 72 bridge. A warrant was issued all the way to Savanna. The crew reported work to be done at Adelaide and Leaf River.
