WE through town
Title:  WE through town
Description:  Looking railroad east from 4th St. During EL days this view would have included 2 main tracks, a siding to your right with a 3 track switching yard beyond the next crossing. Also a siding to the left used to gain access to a couple of industries, along with an additional siding beyond the next crossing. The depot which stood to the right and just behind me has been moved to the space just behind the trees to my left. There are two views of the depot in my Stations album. Thanks.

Title:  From Newell St. east.
Description:  Missing left to right: 2 tracks to the left of the westbound. Just before the bridge a track went into Rockwell Industries. 3 tracks in there. To the right of the missing eastbound were 3 more switching tracks, plus a siding that ran behind me to another switching yard mentioned elsewhere in this album. Just under the Wooster Rd. bridge all 3 tracks having come back together, would enter the eastbound main.

Cement Plant to us.
Title:  Cement Plant to us.
Description:  We would spot empties from the west and pick up loads from the east of the plant. If we switched it from Barberton we would need a hold at Sterling. We could make the pick up on our way back from Rittman, but spotting the empties was best done from Barberton.

Title:  One for the road.
Description:  Working class gauge keepers are under a lot of stress along former EL lines. You see, they do the work normally expected from a tie. No wonder a little stress relief is needed.

Looking down into Seiberling Tire & Rubber Co.
Title:  Looking down into Seiberling Tire & Rubber Co.
Description:  #1 track wrapped around the wall to the left. #2 track came next and diverged to the left as well. Both tracks received box cars. #4 track continued around the back of the building and was for carbon black. #5 track is where the carbon black was spotted. I don't ever remember a #3 track. Today, this is Continental Carbon Co. It still receives carbon black.

Erie RR west at Wolf Creek.
Title:  Erie RR west at Wolf Creek.
Description:  We are on the westbound, to the right is the Seiberling Tire & Rubber Co. Both our train and the eastbound are about to cross Wolf Creek. The Akron Barberton Beltline RR also ran under the EL here. Only the westbound remains and Seiberling has become Continental Carbon Co. We used to switch Seiberling 6 times a week. It is switched today on an as needed basis by WE subsidiary, ABC. Used by permission. Thanks Pat.
