STC 1200
Title:  STC 1200
Description:  The 1200 sits on the west end of the log train after returning from Dayton with the lumber cars. The lumber train departed at 0645 this morning and was back around 0815, just for information.

PSAP Bangor Turn
Title:  PSAP Bangor Turn
Description:  After about 25 minutes of waiting, I heard some horns, jumped out of the car and was somewhat startled by this chopnosed NS unit slowly creeping towards me.

PSAP Bangor Turn
Title:  PSAP Bangor Turn
Description:  Simpson has some crazy trackage around here. In the span of about 500 feet there are 4 diamonds along here, two of which are Simpson/PSAP crossings.

STC 1200 West
Title:  STC 1200 West
Description:  About an hour after PSAP went through, we were off to find a location to "go". When we returned, the 1201 (out of frame to the right) had taken up position to tack on the rear of the log train and 1200 was bringing them out. The first diamond ahead of the 1200 is a Simpson/Simpson crossing, which the very next is the other PSAP diamond.

STC 1200 West
Title:  STC 1200 West
Description:  This little maneuver blocks on of the main crossings in town, which makes it very difficult to get anywhere else in Shelton. The 1201 is sitting on the track that curves to the right.

Title:  STC 1200 West
Description:  Just shy of MP 4.5, this is one of the locations Goldsborough Creek felt it needed to take downstream with it.

STC 1200 West
Title:  STC 1200 West
Description:  This very overgrown track is called the "South Pass" I believe. I opted to do some "on the fly" scouting for the return trip with the loads, and skipped a few shots of the empty train. They are about a half mile from the Dry Sort Yard now.

STC 1201 East
Title:  STC 1201 East
Description:  Here, 1201 pulls the loaded cut of cars out of the Dry Sort Yard, while the 1200 spots the empties. The 1201 stops when he clears the crossing, and waits for the 1200 to tie on to the rear to act as a helper.

STC 1201 East
Title:  STC 1201 East
Description:  Two thirds of the Simpson Timber roster can be seen in this photo. SW900 900, not equipped with dynamic brakes like the 1200 and 1201, does not see much action.

STC 1201 East
Title:  STC 1201 East
Description:  While rolling through town after this shot, the train went into emergency and blocked on of the main crossings in town, making travel...impossible. We went and had lunch while we waited for something else to happen.

Homemade
Title:  Homemade
Description:  This bizzarre little contraption is Simpson's MOW speeder. After the log train was emptied, the guys took this thing up into the woods and did some trackwork. No more trains for the day.
