Album Info:Photos on Norfolk Southern's Corning secondary. NS operates on this line between Corning and Geneva, NY to exchange traffic with the Finger Lakes Railway. Until recently, NS used to haul coal trains to Dresden, NY on this branch as well. As with most railroads the early history of this line is a little complicated, but for the most part it was controlled by the New York Central. Between the coal fields on the south end in Pennsylvania, and NYC's mainline in Lyons, NY this trackage was known as the "Fall Brook Route".

Description:  This train departed about ten minutes early today! A little unusual don't ya think? So we had to hastily set-up in order to catch them here at 16:30 coming off the main on the west leg of the wye.

Description:  Roughly two hours after leaving Gang Mills the train passes through Himrod Junction at 18:22. The track that goes to the right descends from here, turns, and goes under the track that this train is on, and into the village of Watkins Glen. Last I knew, the Finger Lakes RR hauled salt out of Watkins Glen on this trackage.
