Album Info:In order to reach the running Civil War engine, William Mason #25, we had to take a short jaunt behind the venerable St Elizabeth #4 steam engine pulling a string of four coach cars. This plucky H. K. Porter 0-4-0T built in 1950 had served as a coal car switcher to the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Washington D.C. Then it was transferred to the US Army followed by Cass Scenic Railroad. It finally came to the B&O Museum in 1980 and is remembered as the last steam engine built by H. K. Porter and one of the very last steam engines built in the United States. A piece of history in itself!!!
