NKP 2-8-2 #624, Nickel Plate Road (New York, Chicago & St Louis)
Title:  NKP 2-8-2 #624, Nickel Plate Road (New York, Chicago & St Louis)
Description:  Fifteen of these were built by Lima in 1922 as a class H-6d with 63" drivers and developing 200 psi. One of only three preserved NKP 2-8-2's, this one was donated to Hammond, IN on 9/13/55 and is still there but in much worse shape. The photographer C.W. NKP 2-8-2 #646, Nickel Plate Road (New York, Chicago & St Louis)
Title:  NKP 2-8-2 #646, Nickel Plate Road (New York, Chicago & St Louis)
Description:  Another of the thirty of these were by Lima Locomotive Works in 1922-23 as a class H-6e. Like the rest of the NKP Mikados, they had 63" drivers and developed 200 psi boiler pressure. It was sold for scrap on 12/20/1961 to Luntz Iron & Steel. This is the way I like to remember Nickel Plate locos - roaring down a Midwest prairie track blowing smoke skyward!
