Album Info:Butler, the nickname for the new SBB Cargo, Eem 923 class, shunter made its delivery work at Flums Station, at Eastern Switzerland. During 2.5 hours it had to deliver 7 cars and take away 3 cars from two customers, a grain mill company and a rock wool pad company. The SBB Cargo Eem 923 is a dual power version of the SBB-Pax division Ee 922 electric shunting locomotive. Thirty locomotives have been ordered from Stadler Rail, Switzerland, and are beeing delivered 2013. The wheel arrangement is Bo. It can run at up to 100 km/h on 15 kV or 25 kV electrified lines. The machine has an 360 kW diesel engine with generator for operation on non-electrified sidings. Info about Eem from Wikipedia.

Description:  Eem 923 009, nicknamed "butler" arrived shortly before 9:30 am at Flums station with three grain hoppers for the mill in the background, three charcoal cars and an empty boxcar, all for the rock wool pad company.

Description:  After switching from overhead to diesel motion, the first operation is to bring the three loaded grain cars to the mill, two are already parked at the side and one goes for deloading.

Description:  After coming back empty from the mill the two box cars, fully loaded with rock wool pads, had to be taken away from the delivery track and come to the station to reach the next track to pick up two loaded charcoal cars at the tracks at the factory end (just behind the right signal). All operation are on diesel engine only, as no overhead wire exists on those tracks.

Description:  Now, the empty boxcar is at loading station for Saturday and the three new charcoal hoppers are parked at the far end for using it next week. One spare boxcar was untouched remaining on its sidetrack.

Description:  On a short stub track, first they had to get out two unloaded charcoal cars and put them aside on the connecting track and then the two loaded hoppers were pushed into the deloading hall, asking full attenion to the driver.

Description:  Finally the two empty charcoal hoppers are in place on the departure track, time for a smoke break for the crew. Due to filters (nose and smoke) of the Eem 923, the cigarette smoke was almost bigger !

Description:  After the break, the phone came that the first grain hopper is empty. So next operation takes place: Take empty car out, pick up the two full at the side track, switch them back to the grain mill for deloading and finally go back with the empty one to the departure track.

Description:  Overhead power off, diesel on again: As it is soon Friday afternoon and no train leaves from Buchs (Swiss border station) through Austria to Czech, the two empty charcoal hoppers had to be left behind at Flums. So, off they go, another shunting work down to the mill, because there is another sidetrack out of way for Monday shunting crew.
