B&O Roundhouse
Title:  B&O Roundhouse
Description:  The roundhouse and adjacent Mt Clare Station are part of B&O's sprawling Mt Clare Shops which begun operation in 1829. It is considered the oldest railroad manufacturing complex in the U.S. These facilities now house the museum's collection.

Description:  1 (Shay Three Cylinder) was built by the Lima Locomotive Works in 1905. Used to haul logs in West Virgina by the G.W. Huntly Lumber Co., the gear-driven locomotive with flexible base had three side-mount cylinders, which powered a long crankshaft fitted with beveled gears.
