PATH/H&M K-car 1238 "utility waon" |
Description: |
#1238 is a K-car built by St. Louis Car for the H&M/PRR in 1958. After retirement in 1989, 1238 had about three quarters of its body removed and stripped to the ciassis with the cab end remaining. It was then rebuilt with a flatbed added for work service. It is also nicknamed "El Camino" due to its flatbed rear and cab at front. The K-cars (also known as H&M/PRR MP51s) were the first air conditioned rail cars in public transit use. |
