Crossing the Murray |
Description: |
Two NR-class units bring eastbound PNA freight PM6 across the Murray River at the suitably named town of Murray Bridge. The Murray is one of the few inland navigable rivers on the Australian continent. The NR-class makes up the backbone of Pacific National's container train fleet. 120 were built in the mid-to-late 1990s and they can be routinely found in coast-to-coast in Australia. |

PNA NR2 |
Description: |
Pacific National NR-class NR2 with a freight on the Murray River Bridge with sister NR23 trailing. The Goninen-built NR-class is one of the most numerous groups of locomotives in Australia. 120 were built for National Rails in the mid 1990s; the 4000HP units are functionally similar to the GE C40-9 in the US. Other than the letter panel, NR2 still wears its original National Rail paint as well. |
