FM. Here is an image of a photo by Fred McLeod that was taken near South Fork, Pennsylvania, in May of 1948. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4559 and another locomotive whose road number is not recorded. #4559 is an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during September of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in March of 1949, and retired in December of 1956 after 33 years of faithful service. This image comes from a B&W slide set entitled "Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania Railroad" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa. William E. Burket Collection. |
