Unsung heroes |
Description: |
The unsung heroes of the New Haven line were these M-2s that were equipped with both pantographs and third rail shoes so they could make the flying change at Woodlawn and run from the ex New Haven onto the ex NYC electrified lines at speed. They soldiered on day in and day out for years. MUs may not be glamourous-wed all love to see washboards again-but they get the job done. |

M 2s |
Description: |
A train of New Haven Line M 2s rolls down the center track at Larchmont. As you go through this group of photos, note the markings on the front of the trains. Some carry the original "M New Haven" herald. Others, like the train in this photo, have the newer "M-ball" with Metro North lettering. Some have the Connecticut DOT and state seal; others have just the state seal. Quite a variation. |
