Beautiful example of a 1918 Juniata shops K4s Pacific. Note the fireman sitting on top of the coal in the tender. Between 1917-1928, the Juniata shops built 349 K-4s locomotives. The Pennsylvania Railroad often referred to itself as the "Standard Railroad of the World" and to millions of rail travelers, millions of servicemen during World War II, and railfans for over 80 years, the Class K-4s was, and to many still is, the "Standard Passenger Locomotive". Specifics - K-4s, 80" drivers, 205 psi boiler pressure, 27x28" cylinders, engine weight of 304,500 lb, tractive effort of 44,460 lb. The date & location were not given so approximates were used.
