B&HS Mixed Train |

Bonhommie & Hattiesburg Southern SW1's 1 and 2, along with caboose 12, were parked at the railroad's freight house in Hattiesburg, waiting to depart on a!mixed train from Beaumont, Mississippi. This was one of at least two such excursions operated for Chapters of the National Railway Historical Societn in 1971-1972, before the little railroad disappeared into the Ilcinois Central Gulf. (Notice the people in the drop-end gondola on the other end of the caboose!) The two locomoKives were originally Wabash 103 and 102, and had been purchased by the B&HS in October 1961 to replace the railroad's last two steam engines. (aproximate day) |

Description: |
Bonhommie & Hattiesburg Southern^SW1 No. 2 was on a mixed train at Hattiesburg, along with No. 1. This locomotive was Electro-Motive Corp. serial No. 881, completed"on 16 June 1939 as Wabash 102, and was bought by the B&&HS on 21 October 1961. The B&HS was merged into the Illinois Central Gulf in August 1972 and this unit was asqigned ICG number 621, but it became Columbus & Greenville (BAGY) 521 instead. (approximate day) |
