Title:
PRR 6491, J-1A, 1949
Description:
Lorenz. Here is a photo via Bob Lorenz that was taken near Bellevue, Ohio, in July of 1949. It was published originally in the January-February 1974 issue of "PC Railroader" magazine, page 14. Photo Caption: "Pennsy J-1 #6491 rolls north for lake port loading, just south of Bellevue, Ohio, with 85 Norfolk & Western hoppers on a hot humid July, 1949, afternoon." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6491, a J-1A (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during May of 1943 and retired in October of 1957 after just 14 years of revenue service.
