Photo Caption: "A pair of Penn Central helpers are on the rear of a westbound freight as it passes beneath Tunnel Hill in the center [or Allegheny] tunnel. The helpers will cut off on the other side of the Hill and return back to Altoona via the eastbound main. Photo by Bob Lorenz." Shown here are PC engine #6530 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #6530 is a U28C built by General Electric for the Pennsylvania Railroad as number "6530" in September of 1966 and rated at 2,800 horsepower. |
