An eastbound Canadian Pacific train with Delaware & Hudson GP38-2 #7304 passes the Ford Motor Co. owned Michigan Central depot, Detroit, MI, August 11, 2019. This is being fixed to become Fords "Autonomous Vehicle Division" office! Tracks will be restored to the station for the possible return of passenger trains. It sat vacant and derelict for years. The last Amtrak train was in 1988. I only saw the inside as a kid in 1991 and it was crumbling then. My first time catching a D&H unit! (Canon AE-1 35mm camera, Fuji C200 print film) Before this I mailed a disposable camera to Gordon Davis of Plattsburgh, NY. Trainn 223 heads north just after passing through Bevier St, and is into the climb. Its not as bad as it looks; the track in the foreground is the NYSW connection to its line to Chenango Forks, a new connection when the railroad overpasses at Bevier St were raised in the early 90s. The ex DLW bridge was removed, and the NYSW was rerouted onto the D&H through Bevier St to a new switch just north of the bridge. 553 is still in for a pretty good climb, even with only 38 cars. |

Showing the flag on this BUME at Phelps St in Port Dickinson are four lightning stripes, two each GP 38 and GP39-2s. My job allowed me some leeway in train watching-I ran a commercial laundry route-but not enough to give chase. Id have loved to see these on the bridge at Harpursville. GP 38-2 7307, the "Competition" leads the 73 cars of today's train. |
