Southern also used Greenwood siding to access a customer. They are on Greenwood siding, coming toward the photographer. Once clear of the P&N switch, they will head to Greenville.

Description:  5131 is bringing a cut of covered hoppers through Denmark, SC in this 1985 photo. This route from Branchville to a point east of Aiken, SC was abandoned by NS in the late 1980s. What is left of the route at Aiken, SC is operated by the Aiken Railway. At the time of this photo, rail traffic on the line was light.

Description:  5131 is headed east on the Charleston to Hamburg line a couple of miles east of the Elko, the nearest town. Much of this route including this location was abandoned in the late 1980s; not long after this photo was taken. What is left of the route at Aiken, SC is now operated by Aiken Railway. Even though this was a direct line from Augusta, Ga. to Charleston, SC., the traffic on this route was light.
