Southern Pacific 7677 was built in March 1980 (c/n 786266-20), was assigned UP road number 5352 in September 1997, later assigned UP 1452, but never received UP numbers and was retired August 21, 2003. Also seen is BN SD40 6308, built in October 1971 (c/n 5801-9) and retired by the BN in April 1987.

This was shot from a dome car of a passing Amtrak special to Galesburg Railroad Days. Note that the Amtrak train is passing a caboose on the main line with a man on the back porch. There are also two gentlemen on the rear unit of the pictured locomotive set.

Description:  Almost. The right of way was actually separated by a concrete curb. We see WAIT 2 working through town with one car for Cargill, much to the relief of local drivers, who are used to seeing 90 car coal trains go past at 10 MPH. This train will likely return with several dozen salt cars, a typical move.
