Pan Am's PO-3 with MEC 510, a CSX boxcar for a spacer and four LPG tanks rolls west (I know, timetable east but let's just imagine its MEC for a minute) across Frost St. in Portland, Maine bound for Dead River in Westbrook just before sunset. This is the former MEC Mountain Division, now known as Pan Am's Cumberland Mills Industrial Track, and sadly long unused beyond Westbrook. After Sappi recently shut down a machine and discontinued rail service, Dead River is the only customer currently on this line. |
