The photo was taken from atop the Eastbound signal that once stood at the West end of the bridge. Description:  This GP40 - seen here working the ICG/Conrail interchange in Effingham, IL - was built as IC 3055 in Feb 1967. In March 1982, it was sold to KCS where it became unit #791. It was later rebuilt to a GP40WH-2 and became MARC 65. By 9/2010 it was retired and would eventually end up in Boise, ID at Motive Power Industries. Who would have guessed back in '79 that it would have such a colorful history?.

Description:  Working east toward Denver with a mixed bag, GP40 3057 leads GP40 3054, 3063 and GP35 3048. Lead 3057 was built by EMD in January 1966 and was only five months old at the time. 3057 would be retired in December 1993. It was sold to three different owners between 1995 and 1997 before being rebuilt and sold to Minera Alumbrera in Argentina.

Description:  This was taken from up above Corning on the NY 414 overpass. It gives a good look at the layout in Corning-see the photo of BUME from 1987 in the D&H album for a deeper explanation. The train, TV 300, is on the ex Erie post 1951 alignment, which took the railroad out of the street in downtown Corning, and made a connection with the NYC here. The east leg of that connection is in the foreground. The red lights at CP West Glass, visible to the right of the train in the distance, mark where the west leg of the NYC connection joins the Southern Tier Line. The empty bridge abutments are the abandoned DLW, which passed here before it diverged shortly to the west to head for Bath, Groveland, and Buffalo.
